New Features Added

We are happy to annnounce the addition of two new features. The first feature is that we now have Author Rankings and File Rankings on our file- and author-info pages! It will rate the weekly and all-time popularity of programs daily, based on the number of downloads. These non-scientific rankings (we may have missed a couple downloads after loading old logs) are supplemented by toplists in our Archives section.

The second feature is the ability to download documentation from an archive's fileinfo page. You may now download TXT and DOC files and the like. All of the ZIP files in our archives will have this feature implemented, and authors may email filearchive@ticalc.org to have us disable this feature for any of their programs.

If there were to be a live chat, it would be nice if it were actually about calculators, less exclusive, and with less newbie-bashing. (can you guess which chat room I'm referring to here?) Everyone starts somewhere, and, believe it or not, even intelligent people need help once in a while.

Yeah, #ti is not a good place to get constructive help. They also seem to hate everyone who hasn't been there for a long time.

Section to report Bugs

A idea that I think you should really have is a section to report "Bugs" in the programs, sepereated by each program ext.

This is one of the coolest features ever. I mean, 90% of the time I d/l games just to read the damn txt file too see if its worth it. Specially when you see games called like.. mortalkombat u think awesome! Then you read the txt file and notice it sucks.. Well this saves you that trouble! WTG TI Calc, you get a cookie for the day. :)

Nathan et al.: Readme viewing online is a GREAT improvement (I would have suggested it long ago, but didn't think it possible) -- but it's not quite perfect yet =) Try http://www.ticalc.org /cgi-bin/zipview? 89/asm/games/bomber.zip ;source/README-sharegramming.txt [without spaces!] (link from Bomber Boy 89 page) -- it gives an "illegal character" error of some kind.

I guess Zipview doesn't like hyphens in the filename. Click the web page link to see for yourself.

Actually, this is a known problem. But the error message was a little flunky. The zip library we use doesn't like directories in a zip file; we're working on it, but I don't know of a time frame for fixing it. It shouldn't be too much of a problem, as not that many files have subdirectories in the zip file. -- Phil

Fear me, i^n has 82 downloads so far and is ranked 400+. Pretty soon I'll be within the rank 300 programs, so you better watch out Zshell, i^n is a-comin to getcha! :P
