Space Shooters Updated - Phoenix, SolarStriker
Posted by Nick on 23 October 1999, 02:44 GMT

Two programs, both space shooters, have been recently updated.

Phoenix v3.5 has been updated (see screenshot). This version includes compatibility with AMS v1.05 and it fixes some display problems on the 89. Get it for the 89, 92 and 92 Plus.

SolarStriker v0.12 Alpha has been updated to fix a major bug. A "light" version was also released for the 92 and 92 Plus. You can grab it for the 89, 92 and 92 Plus.

One final note - thanks a ton to Vejita for helping me out a bit in getting this up. ;)

Update (Nick): We recently updated the version of Phoenix to v3.6 in our archives. This fixes another minor bug.

Update (Nick): Not an hour after the release of v3.6, Patrick figured out how to fix a major bug and released a new version. v3.7 is now out. Sorry for the confusion. :)

Well, it makes almost no sense for ticalc.org to post a news item about a game when they don't even have the latest version.

I think you mean the Advanced Mathematics Software (AMS) v1.05, not the CAS v1.05.

If you're referring to bluecalx.troop474.org, that was my fault, and it's fixed now. Stupid BIND breaking for no known reason.

I don't know how to fix that, but on my calc (which was AMS1.00 until last night and DoorsOS), the first version of SS didn't have a visible ship. I downloaded the most recent version now, and all I get is an illegal action. Does anybody else get this too?

Sorry, and sorry...
It's hard to port a game without a "true" calculator because i can't test it during a long time. So when the Fargo version is ok, and i can run 5 or 6 times the 89 version, i think this will ok !
A last version without this bug will be release soon. And I hope this will be good this time...

Thanks a lot to people who tried this game and report the bug.

86??
DaRkBlAd3

The TI-86 and TI-89 are totally incompatible. Besides, this same author wrote Galaxian, which is essentially the z80 (TI-86) equivalent of phoenix. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but that's what you get with a lower-end calc.
