Rusty Wagner Releases Virtual TI v2.5 Beta 2
Posted by Nick on 14 October 1999, 01:42 GMT

Due to popular demand, I've finally decided to give this a somewhat late mention. On Monday, Rusty Wagner made an update to the incredibly popular Virtual TI, adding support for the new black link cable from TI and enhancing support for the old gray link. Wondering where to download this wonderful program? You can get it here.

I'm new with emulators. I have a ti-83+ (fuck you all who say it's shit cause I had good reason to buy THAT one). Do I have to use a program to get a rom dump? If not it won't detect my ti-83+ files from my black link. is anyone else having problems?

on the 83+ I had a problem with the rom dumping program it loads on your calc, it crashes the calc but the emulatopr says it's received the rom successfully, however, when I run the 83+ rom the emulated screen says "ti-83 plus" and it just freezes, nothing works. oh, and for the 86, the rom dumping program on't even load properly

For some strange reason, the dumprom prog resets your *RAM* on the 83+. Solution: 2nd, MEM (+ key), 0 (Group), Create new, All+, de-select A (If u have ION - It must run prgmION to reinstall it), (theta)ION, and all the Window, RclWindow... and the real variables. Select done.
Dump your rom!
Unarchive the group you just made.

Right now i'm looking for the ti-89 v1.00 ROM and someone named MAX RICKETS sent me an e-mail asking for it as soon i found it. If Max is out there, I accidently deleted your letter so if you could send me another e-mail i'll send you the ROM version as soon as i find it.

About Rusty Programming/VTI
Vejita

Hmm, I see some familiar problems posted here.
Heh, first off, I don't know about a port to Mac, (update the port and real beta at same time? ug) :)

Now on to the real stuff. The romdumping should be working just fine;however, it seems that it is being inconsistent right now and of course we have found a few more bugs. Our first advice with this release is if it didn't work the first time try again.
-The save state works for us.
-ROM 1.05 for 89 has contrast problems?
-Parallel cannot be supported until we have a way to test it. ie cable.
-USB i suppose would be even more work for VTI :) Always
-"VTI may be a nice emulator and all that, but it makes writing programs for the 86 a nightmare. It handles all the undocumented z80 opcodes
correctly (or at least all the ones that I've tried) yet doesn't support port 4. Is there any way of detecting the VTI (I can detect every other
emulator) so that the user doesn't get a screenful of rubbish when running really clever games?" Try sending us an email about the details of your question.
-You can use the vti built in rom dump wizard to do ROM dumps.

Please, if you have any problems or BUGs send us an email or something.

Hmm I tried emailing and posting my problems/bugs with vti on the acz web site but I can't get a response. Not one reply. Nothing that says "sorry i can't help you" or "i never heard of that before." Maybe I'm the only one that can't emulate the 85 successfully but it would be nice to get a reply. BTW nice job on vti (everything but the 85 mode).

ACZ now has a message board for just this purpose. It is difficult to personally respond to hundreds of emails that are all essentially the same. Post your question on the message board. It is monitored by everyone in ACZ, and perhaps the question will only be asked once :)

I know its hard to not know this cause you guys advertise it so much. I did put my question on your message boards. Thats what I meant by posting it on your site.

Actually, if you have a real bug or something, report it to us from our site. It gets more attention that way. But we check the messages some anyway.

Why is there no support for an 83 with SOS? Doesn't he know that Ashell sucks and most new games are made for SOS? Also, Ashell games work in SOS, but SOS games don't work in Ashell

My bad. Just the install doesn't support SOS. The emulator does though. Does anybody know where to download roms from off the internet? Thanks

Ashell Progs run in SOS! Just use the 83 w/ ashell option. Run the Dumprom prog from SOS instead of Ashell. Problem solved.

To get free 89 & 92+ ROMs:
Download either ti89base.exe or the similarly named file for the 92+.
Using WinZip, unzip (filename).tib to VTI's directory.

Done!
