Kirk Meyer in Search of Girlfriend
Posted by Nick on 28 September 1999, 00:44 GMT

Kirk Meyer has put up a web page announcing that he is looking for a girlfriend. All interested applicants should email him post-haste. Please note that ZAPO posted a premature article about this. Somehow or other, Danny managed to mistype the entire URL for the web page - for some reason, it pointed to a page containing an entirely different person as well.

Addition: Danny has since notified us that the article was due to a security leak in ZAPO.

I thought kirk married his calculator? Has he asked what his calc has to say about all this?

I'd like to see the demographic breakdown of visitors to ticalc; how many of them are going to be female?

My educated guess is slim to none.

We did run a survey asking that. There was, I think, one girl.

He meant how many people answered the survey, not how many times you personally reload the site Phil. :)

Heh. Only difference: I'm not really looking for a girlfriend. This is why this is funny news. It's the "turn the other cheek" strategy, only it seems that it wasn't ZAPO trying to make fun of me after all. :)

I just wanted to let you all hear the word from the mouth, the article on ZAPO today was due to a security leak. In other words, we are sorry, I didn't post anything in anyway to be offensive to Kirk, and also, please stop mailing me about it. Thanx.

Just so everyone knows, the security problem was with our ftp account at dimension-ti, not with any of my infinatly beautiful perl scripts. I have IP checking and things of that sort, as well as a small mail script that sends me a message everytime something is posted from the members section. I didnt get a mail of that sort about this particular news item, so I have come to the conclusion that whoever did this must have our ftp pass. We will change it soon. It is all quite funny tho :)

Later,
Chicane

I have a Ti-89 and I ran Math Suite(in the archives at Ticalc under Ti-89/Basic/Math). It crashed my calc and what ever I try to reset or even take all the batteries off, it would turn on but do nothing. Does anyone have this problem?

this has nothing to do with the topic, but reset it by taking out one of the batteries and pressing (-) and ) at the same time , for 5 sec, after replacing the battery.

I prefer to take out the backup battery (you know, the lithium, coin-shaped one), then take out the AAA batteries, replace the AAA batteries, and take them out again, and replace them, until the calculator recovers. Then put the lithium battery back in. That way I don't have to deal with some f---ed up key sequence that never seems to work. (BTW, I've heard that it's 2nd-right-left-on (source: the DoorsOS readmes). I've become so confused I don't even know whether it's left-right or right-left anymore.)

Resent the 89
YodaToad  Account Info

To reset the 89 take out 1 battery to turn off the calc. Then hold down the (-) and the ) button. If the ) button doesn't work do it with the ( button. Then press ON and the memory should be cleared.

Note: How could a BASIC program crash a calc?????

Ummm.... The topic on the last one should be RESET THE 89 not Resent the 89.

One other why I've always reset games is turn over the calculator and take out a battery while pressing on. Insert the battery again and it should be reset. Also, 2nd-left-right-on should do it without having to take out any batteries.

Download rom ver 1.5 and the program and see for yourself

Re: Re: Resent the 89

I think you have to run it several times. It will appear to have abnormal terminations and internal errors and will probably cause you to get another one. And I think it's basic since it appeared in the basic programs

Dont Ask Me, But FF7 Crashed My Ti-89 while I was porting it.

Is it just me, or Does every 68000 Based calculator have to crash During the First week of use? I Bought the Ti-92 when it first came out and it crashed 5 days after I owned it. (Graphing a 3D Example) After that, it never crashed again. The same thing happened to the Ti-89 so far. It crashed 3 days after I bought it and it's never crashed since.

what you need to do is throw the calculator repeatedly against the wall until you hear a short explosion or a small burst of smoke. replace the batteries, and the problem of turning it on will be gone. !-|
