May 1999 Program of the Month
Posted by Kirk on 1 June 1999, 03:43 GMT

To see the programs which have been nominated and/or cast your vote for the best program in each category, go to http://www.ticalc.org/survey/potm/5.html. In order to vote you must be registered in our voting system. If you are not yet a registered voter on ticalc.org, please register before voting for the Program of the Month. The polls will remain open for one week, after which time the winners will be announced in an addendum to the newsletter as well as on the news.

Re: June 1999 Program of the Month
Jawbreaker

Kinda off the subject but i wanted to say this. There needs a be screen shots for programs, one for voting if you dont own that calc plus just to check out what it looks like. Whenever a cool sound program is added for a calc i dont have i am dispointed because i have no idea how it looks. If screen shots were added with the program i think it would make the site a lot better. Thanks.

Then people end up voting based on graphics -- something we DON'T want. If you haven't noticed yet, the voting system doesn't force you to vote in every category. If you can't find a deserving game, don't vote for any of them.

I''ve been thinking...
Dan

All of this is really very pointless. What does it matter if they put up the Basic voting section again? Who's really going to care? The vast majority of people that come here program Assembly anyways. And, to stereotype them, they all seem to be too stuck up to care about the Basic programmers. Why even bother?

I really cannot believe this. I don't understand why calculator games are so popular here. I saw the results from one of the earlier surverys, and it showed that quite a few purchased their TI just to play games. I believe that stupid games should not be played on any sort of calculator; calculators should be utilized for academic reasons.

HC10

I do think buying a calc JUST for games is dumb, but if your also going to use it for real work, then it's fine, as long as you don't abuse it.

I agree with HC10. Buying a calculator only for games is rather stupid, but buying one for an actual class and using games as a way to pass time is completely acceptable.

Re: May 1999 Program of the Month
.

I'm going to repeat an idea that was said in last month's thing... I don't know if this is because no good misc programs were released, but for the most part good misc programs can't compete with games... there should be a separate category for misc programs
