Street Fighter II v0.19 Beta
Posted by Kirk on 8 May 1999, 18:41 GMT

Thomas Corvazier has made a web page available to the public. The web page, among other things, contains the pre-release version 0.19 of the program that was previously posted here; v0.18 for the TI-89 and the TI-92 Plus is available from ticalc.org, while both v0.18 and v0.19 are available at the Street Fighter II web site. English users will want to use Babel Fish or another translator to translate the page from French to English.

I put the page through babelfish, and it was very clear that the developers did not want the game distributed off of the webpage.

He is one of the authors.

Ah...no kidding. I was referring to ticalc, that it was clearly obvious at this point that he did not want the program distributed.

K, just making sure, I do wonder why someone put it up though against the authors wishes. I mean if you want it go to their page.
I have had the latest version crash when I tried exiting with the esc key. I don't know if it was a one time thing or what, but it happened. I'm putting everything back on now.
And what was that someone said about an error screen rather than a crash when using doors? Do you need the actual os, or will it work with just the browser, cause I was using just the browser with plusshell and that's where the crash occured.

This game looks so cool, which pisses me off because I have an 82 and an 83. Someone needs to work on an emulator for the 83 for all of these games so that there will be more union between all of the calcs.

Ummm.... that ain't gonna happen. Even if someone decided to do that, the prog plus the emulator wouldn't fit on THREE TI83s...... What we'd need for that would be to find a way to upgrade the memory of lower-level calcs INTERNALLY, so it is supported by the standard ROM. I realize there are lots of conflicts this would create(and I probably don't know the half of it) but I think it could work if a seperate chip could point to a certain size of the storage; that is, it would replace the entire ROM with a pointer that would set off a segment the same size of the original TI8x ROM(including command interpreters).
(btw I do realize that the ExpanderII exists, but that wouldn't do the trick because it needs to be able to read from all parts of the chip (perhaps a code that, when sent to the controller, changes the pointer back and forth?)

Just throwing some ideas around.... 'cause that's the only way games like that could even come CLOSE to running on a lower level calc(82,83, and 85 mainly)

Not to mention emulating a more advanced 10 mhz procesor on a less advanced 6 mhz procesor would be slow as mollasses...

Processor?!?!
86 guy

How do you know that? Are you really sure?

Re: Processor?!?!

(Web Page)

Uh.. it says on TI's web site what kinds of processors the calculators have - the 8x series has a 6mhz Z80 (mostly anyhow) and the 89/92/92+ has a 10mhz motorola 68000. not only is the motorola one faster, it is much more advanced - it handles multiplication, division, and long numbers. Consider, for a moment, that a PENTIUM is required to emulate the TI-8x series to speed. And thats partly due to the fact that the Z80 and 8086 have similar flag operations! Now you want to emulate a TEN mhz, more advanced chip with a totally different system architecture, on a SIX mhz, less advanced chip. Sure, it can be done.. my guess is that it would run on average at 0.01 MHz (thats pretty small, a better way to say that is 10,000 Hz) - that is not very many cycles per second.. I bet SF2T would be loads of fun that fast (not to mention the even smaller screen)

The anaconda''s head smashed?!?!
86/89/92+ guy w/EMU working

How do you get the PLUG-INS FOR ANACONDA 0.4 working?

Hey Everyone! Just a quick question. Has any of you guys figured out some of those cool moves the computer does for everyone but ryu and ken? I figured out honda's dive thing.....its like forward forward 2nd button or something along hose lines but if anyone finds any more please e-mail me or post the moves! Thanx!

Cronus

It seems that most of the special moves seem to be the same as the actual SNES game. I just downloaded SF2 abd have only played a few minutes, but most of the moves are there. Ryu's special moves are as follows:
Fireball: Left Right Down Punch
Uppercut: Right Down Left Punch
Kick: Right Down Left Kick

As always, the better the punch or kick, the more damage/range the special move has.

If you need any more information on special moves, try to find a friend with the manual, or locate a site that has them listed.

I hope this helped

Re: Re: Re: Street Fighter II v0.19 Beta
Chris Nguyen

well actually.. the moves are simplified in the game.. this is what i found out so far

ryu and ken
fireball - down, forward, punch
hurricane kick - down, back, kick
upper cut - forward, down, punch

chun li
spinning side kick - down, up + kick
fireball - down, forward, kick

e. honda
some spinning fly thingy - punch twice quickly

i haven't really played with the other characters (mainly cause guile doesn't work right now.. dalshim jumps slow.. and other things)

i think this is a tight game.. but i'm still waiting for the pokémon game to come out. props out to all the programmers out there who come up with these tight games..

Re: memory?
komiboi

i cant seem to get the entire thing on my calc. is this just me? i can get the main program, the backgrounds, and one character, thats it. help?

Re: Re: memory?
Nathan Walters1

after you put on the background and one character, archive them. then put two more characters on, archive them, and so on, and so on, and so on. It helps if you have nothing on your calc to start with to fit it all in because of the way the archive system works
