Street Fighter II v0.19 Beta
Posted by Kirk on 8 May 1999, 18:41 GMT

Thomas Corvazier has made a web page available to the public. The web page, among other things, contains the pre-release version 0.19 of the program that was previously posted here; v0.18 for the TI-89 and the TI-92 Plus is available from ticalc.org, while both v0.18 and v0.19 are available at the Street Fighter II web site. English users will want to use Babel Fish or another translator to translate the page from French to English.

I'm getting my TI-89 and Graph Link Thursday and I can't wait to try out Street Fighter.

Of couse you have probably already downloaded and emulator and borrowed a friends' calc for a ROM.

you don't need to borrow a calc to get a rom image. just goto ti's website and download the rom v1.00 and unzip it with winzip and then you have a rom image

This is off topic but I don't know where else to turn because you guys are all smart and know everything. Anyways, does anyone know where to download a good fractal program for the computer? One the continuely moves, changes color, and everything and can be used as a screen saver. If you know post here or e-mail me.

This is also off topic, but does anyone know how to make the 89 graph a sphere?

reply or email plz

I only own an 83, not an 89, but I'm guessing this might work:
z = {-1,1}sqrt(r^2-x^2-y^2), where sqrt is square root, and the {-1,1} represents a list.

wouldn't it be cubed root? and r^3, x^3, and y^3?

I would try setting up the calculator graphing mode in Polar Coordinates. We just learned this in Calc II. :) On my TI-86, I can graph a circle at (0,0) with this equation:

r1 = 3

where 3 is the radius of the circle. It probably isn't too drastically different on a TI-89 graphing in 3D, I would imagine.

No, sadly, the 89 only has z= function graphing in 3d mode
of course, it already goes so slowly that perhaps parametric graphing would be prohibitive. I dont see how polar 3d graphs would even be possible, though there are many much smarter than I, a humble and lowly calc 1 student.

It should be fairly simple to derive for a sphere though. In 3 dimentions, the distance formula is sqrt(x^2+y^2+z^2)
so sqrt(x^2+y^2+z^2)=radius
x^2+y^2+z^2=radius squared
Z^2=radius^2-x^2-y^2
z=+- sqrt (radius^2-x^2-y^2)

yeah that works, i just checked it

I don't see why you can't have 3d polar graphs, just add a second theta (the angle of r on the z axis). Every point in 3d space can be defined this way. 2d polar graphs would just be a 3d polar graph with the second theta set to pi/2.
I don't see how that would be useful however, but I'm not a mathematician.

You got a _full_ sphere?! How do you represent this?

z=+- sqrt (radius^2-x^2-y^2)

I can' only get the upper or lower half. If I inser the ± symbol, I get a blank graph. I am using z=sqrt(1-x^2-y^2) or z=-sqrt(1-x^2-y^2) to get the top and bottom of the sphere.

Thanks,
Tip DS

Zoom in -- one of the faults of a screen is that it has a limited resolution based on pixel size - you'll never get a COMPLETE sphere, but you'll get closer.

Try using z={1,-1}sqrt(1-x^2-y^2) -- it'll yield the same results, but in one statement instead of two =)

Nope. Blank graph. The 89 will not graph a "function" that returns more than one value for a given value of x or y. If there is more than one value for a given x or y, it is no longer a function, by definition. TI has said that the 89 won't graph a full sphere. I was fairly suprised when I read here that someone had done it. If anybody actually DOES it, I'd be interested in how.

Respectfully,
Tip DS

Not true -- it's still a function if there are multiple y's for every x, but not if there are multiple x's for every y.

I just want to say that these games are great! in general, and that thier should be more competition, becuase thats what will motivate others to do a good job.
I dont think that thier would ever be too much competion becuase everyone has a different taste of games and no matter what game it is someone will like it.

keep up the good work everyone =)
you are the people who make the boring parts of school fun =)

is anyone else totally amazed that this remarkbly stable (and unbelievably awesome) game is only on version 0.19? what are the authors planning on doing to it?

and that brings up another fact. i've never had this program crash. and it's in alpha stages. if that's not impressive i don't know what is.

I looked at the screenshot, and my eyes bulged.

I put it on a TI-89, my jaw... well, let's just say it's still stuck in the floor and I'm trying to pull it back up.

The smoothness, the MOVES... unbelievable. :)

I know--it's amazing. I couldn't believe all the new players. Some of them have bugs though, like you can walk through guile and trying to do honda's hand slap move makes him do a different one, so if you want an almost bug-less version, try .18 especially with link play. :)

I saw a few other bugs there too but does anyone know what that thing Blanka does when you press 9 and 8? It seems to be a move but I can't see a use for it. Also, (for Blanka) Pressing 6 gets him in that defense pose but all attacks on him inflict damage.

Have you noticed with Ken and Ryu if you do a jump kick and your foot hits the ground, it will hit the oppenent anywhere as long as he's on the ground. Also, none of the character's can seem to block
