Assembly Coder's Zenith News
Posted by Kirk on 20 April 1999, 22:28 GMT

The ACZ has announced that they will start selling calculators on their site. The prices that the ACZ charges are similar to those of Dimension-TI.

Additionally, Rusty Wagner of the ACZ has released Virtual TI v2.0 Alpha 3, an emulator for the TI-82, 83, 85, 86, 89, 92, 92 II, and 92 Plus. Features which set it apart from other emulators include linking between multiple instances of the program and improved debugging features. Some of these new debugging features include replacing ROM calls with their respective aliases and panes listing the variables/handles on the calculator.

Yeah I know it''s illegal...

Yeah I know that it is illegal to distribute ROM images but I cannot get a ROM off of my TI-85. I have tried a couple different program but nothing has seemed to work. If you know what I might be doing wrong or know where I could get a ROM I would appreciate the help greatly. I know that it is illegal to distribut ROM's so if you can just help me that would be appreciated.

It might be useful if you check out my site for the Ti85's ROM receiver.

Zap-OS
danny
(Web Page)

Hey I'm sorry this is a little OT. I just have to get these two things out. First, I would like to congratulate all of ACZ and Rusty for this accomplishment. This has to be the best emu around.

Second, ZAPO has released a new shell. It is called Zap-OS and was uploaded to the ticalc.org archive but I wasn't sure if anyone really new about it since Kirk said it wasn't news worthy. I just want to tell you that this is the best shell I have ever used. It has some great original features, and some old ones but improved upon in what I feel.

1. Windows Interface
2. Run Prompt (like win95/98)
3. Control Panel
-Backround selection, and shortcut configuration
4. Documents
5. Plug-ins
-Calculator Securtiy System
--Mem Locking and Link Locking
--Password Protection
-System Manager
--Turn on/off like [sqrt]
-Explorer
--Folders and a Recycle Bin
6. Icons for Plug-ins
7. F2-F4 shortcut keys that lead to the program of your choice.
8. Backround picture support of any .86i file
9. Contrast Change

There are many more features than just these, so check out the program and give chicane some feed back. You can download it from ZAPO's home page from the URL above.

P.S. This in no way was meant to disrespect this article, Rusty, or ACZ. Thankyou. Ticalc.org please don't delete this comment.

Great Emulator!

Well, I just wanted to say that this is THE best emulator for the 83. All of the other ones I've used are the wrong screen size or use black and white instead of grayscale etc... This is by far the best emulator I have used! It even makes grayscale screenshots.

btw, there seems to be a problem with recieving programs on the emulator you might want to check out.

Anyways, Rusty Wagner has done a great job on this and I congratulate him!

RE: Transmittion Probs

I have noticed the same problems when I try to send programs in 83 mode. It gives you a error and then asks to retry, when you do it usually sends right. its not a big problem but its something that needs to be fixed.

Yeah... I can't seem to get the emu to receive any asm progs from the GL using an 86 ROM, and after the first time I sent a file from the computer to the emu it hangs whenever I try to send any others... really annoying to have to type everything in by hand... Aside from that, though, I must say that this is _the_ best emulator I have seen for any TI calculator.

I've got a question.... I might just be ignorant, but how do you actually take a screen shot? the txt file with it says that you can get a screen shot, but it doens't say how... help!

just click on the right mouse button, and you'll get a list of options, including 2 types of screen shots. (Or aren't they there?)
