Bomberbloke v0.96 Released
Posted on 8 March 1999, 01:05 GMT

Matt Shepcar of Icarus Productions has released Bomberbloke v0.96 for the TI-86. Besides improved link routines, v0.96 features newly working bonuses such as the Zapper, the Boots and various bug fixes. In addition to this, there are now even more levels to beat - fifteen of them. Additionally, the updated source code has been included with this version.

Sorry for the near duplicate. I was going to send in the message but proof read it the last minutes it was posted, and I had to make a small change.

Bomberbloke 85 port
Matthew Shepcar
(Web Page)

BomberBloke is not being ported to the TI-85 because of its high memory requirements. When the game is loaded it unpacks itself to fill almost all of the 16k RAM page 1 and uses another 6 or 7k of memory from _asm_exec_ram on. To get this game onto the 85 would require something like a 22k string.. that's not going to be very practical is it? :) So sorry, there's no chance of a TI-85 port happening.. at least not by Icarus.

Common man, 22k is way enough for the game to be ported to the 85. The only thing i think you're trying to say is that you're too lazy to do that. I'm sorry to hear that man...

Whatever man! Matthew has been working on this game for a long time now and has been doing one hell of a job. He isn't lazy to do anything. He explained to you guys that the game is to big for such a small lil 85 calc. So to all of you who can't find anythinf else to do except complain about porting, BUY A 86!!!!!!!

Listen you ignorant moron, why do you speak when truth is smacking you in your face, instead of talking like your straight from the AOL bootcamp?

Shepcar is one of the best programmers around. He is far from lazy. If you want a port so badly why don't YOU get off your lazy ass and code one yourself!

Hello, I love this game. It is my favorite. Since I have two 86's I play this quite often with my brother. Also I would like to say that now that you have a new version it is even better. I also would like to say in one player I can't seem to beat level 9. I haven't even got into level 10. Please, just for me, make a verison where on one player you and detonators and megabombs. I want a chance to get into the more levels. And one more thing. It takes a half-hour to get to level 8, so could you have a save-game feature or a shutdown -feature (teacher key). I hate having to waste my batteries by having it on for a half-hour during diner or something.

Keep up the Good work!

With this new version, you can warp to any level you have reached before, witch is a great feature for times when you have something to do, like eat. try going to start, then warp to level:, then press -> until it takes you to the highest level you have gotten to.

On the "Warp to Level-##" thing in version .96, I selected "Warp to Level -0" (It's possible) and the game froze the calc. Has anyone else had this problem?

Has anyone tried to link with this new version.
I tried it with two rom 1.3 86's and the sucker froze within 10 seconds. 1 player is much improved though!!!

I tried linking Bomberbloke between rom 1.2 and rom 1.6. It locked up almost immediately within 10 seconds.

To be honest, I actually liked the help system. And even if it needs 4 more kb, it's fine. Although, it can be trimmed down to the point of just a list of what icon does what. I let a lot of people borrow my calc in class (yeah, I study :) ) and the help has been the best thing in helping them to get started. An option to include help, or not in the future would be appreciated (imo).

One player mode is great. Although I was informed of two bugs.

Incident one:

I got up to level 8, and died. Sent bomber.86p and bomber.86s to my friend via link cable. So he was able to start up to level 8 too. He noticed Level 0, tried it, and his calc crashed. His rom is version 1.3.

Incident two:

My friend w/ rom 1.3 got the "boot", and had only one bomb. He kicked the bomb at an enemy, and the enemy walked over it. The enemy "picked it up" and he lost the bomb. He ran around the whole level with 0 bombs, and as you can imagine, if he died, he wouldn't get the bomb back either. :P

Both of these "bugs" have been added to the news on my website. Although, I'll try that Level 0 thing again. It might've just been a coincidence.

That boot thing happened to me too...

To that guy up above, level 8 is possible, but VERY difficult :-)

it took me 10 minutes

Yeah yeah. :)

I've gotten to level 11 now. Too bad level restart only continues from level 9... reminds me of ZTetris in some retrospects.

Honestly, score doesn't matter to me much. :)

The same thing happened to me on link play. It freezes right after the first bomb explodes.
