Super Mario Quest v0.9.3 Beta released
Posted on 20 January 1999, 00:21 GMT

[Super Mario Quest Screenshot]

Don Barnes has released Super Mario Quest v0.9.3 Beta for the TI-89 and TI-92 Plus, as well as the SMQ Editor v0.3 Beta for the TI-89 and TI-92 Plus. This new version adds fireballs, invincibility stars, the ability to slide, an optional info bar at the top, and an option password on custom level sets. Previously, the game and the level editor were included in the same archive; however now they are seperate archives.

HELP!!
Taylor Hanson
(Web Page)

I can't get anything to work!! My TI-89 crashed and I can plusshell back on but I can't run anything from it!! I can't even play SMQ! I put the libraries needed and the calc says that it can't find it! That is so annoying!! You should make the libraries come with the game, that would be so much easier!!

Thanks!

Taylor

Me again!

When I press enter on SMQ in + shell, I get an error saying I need ziplib. So, I put it on there from the 89 asm libraries and it says: Wrong library version: ziplib?

I hate when things don't work!

Use DoorsOS. I think Rusty needs to add ziplib support to his shell :)

Yeah, but you can't play SMQ through Doors
Just run it alone, SMQ's possible without either OS. That happened to me, and zipppppp... off it went.

Actually you can run smq through doors. What prevents you from doing so?

Skylight

Try to use different versons of avaibles libraries (see the gray4lib in ticalc.org/ pub
/ 89/ asm/ libraries and ticalc.org/pub/ 89/ asm/ shells/ : it isn't the same ...)

before you can run any of the games, you have to put kernel on your calculator and run it to install plus shell. also you should run doorsos to install doors.

Heh
Megatron

I can fart out a better TI-89 game than this. Hehe, j/k. This game is excellent! It's my second favorite game, next to Zelda 89 of course =)

Snake

Zelda only took me one class period to beat, though. It DOES have a nice opening, though

This game gets better all the time!!! Keep up the good work!!! I love this game. Sound would make a game alot better. I can't wait until sound is avaiable on the 92+. Then this game would kick butt!

No. They're not good enough. Memory constraints.

Re: Re: Re: Super Mario Quest v0.9.3 Beta released
Feuergkrev

Couldn't you just use a compression and decompression program to loosen those memory constraints?

82, 83 and 85 doesn't support grayscales or very badly. There exist some mario games on 82, 83 and 85, but there are ugly. And , agree with eugene, there is a memory problem (28K for 82, 83 and 85 than 500K for 89 .....;-)

The 86 supports grayscale, it has 100KB of memory so for the 86 it would be posible with a decompression and compression program.

With this new version of smq, will there be a new level editor??? The mariolvl that comes with the games won't open up on the editor. Also, in the old editor there is no star box!!

The new level editor is a different archive than that of the game.

Exactly 48KB + 16 bytes.
