StarCraft for the 89
Inferno

I saw on a website previews for StarCraft for the TI-89. Apparently, a guy was making it for the 85, but he ran outta room on his calc so he cancelled the game. So now, he's porting it to the 89. Anybody else hear anything about this???

You pissant. Why would a guy how knows z80 asm port something into 6800 asm? Unless the game is in BASIC it is probably another lie.

Eugene (no, not this one, the one who has posted before)

Yeah. There are lots of lies out there.

P.S. Get another alias. If you're posting using my name to mock me, I must say that that is not very good of you. By the way, I don't normally post at that time. (I certainly don't want to sound like a crybaby, but...I feel quite offended. I'm sorry if I offended you.)

Well. Think about how much memory StarCraft would require.

Just becasue someone knows z80 asm doesnt mean they dont know 68000 asm, fool. Don;t talk about it unless you know what your talking about!

Sheesh
Terence Lindsey

What the hell? I'm the one who was working on StarCraft for the TI-85. I cancelled that game because of how much RAM it would require, and it would need more CPU power than the 85 had. I am NOT porting that game to the 89 by all means. I am writing a game for the TI-89 but it is NOT StarCraft, that would take to damn long!

CPU power? No problem, just open the calculator and rip out the capacitor, and resodder the circuit. That should triple clock your calc (and invalidate your warranty). My calc has run great and has only crashed while running faulty assembly code. Also for memory, just get the memory expander pak for those extra kbytes,.

RE: cpu power
Evan

desoldering the cap only causes more electrical power to get to the z80, it doesn't increase the actual power of the processor. as for the expaner pak thing, you can still only use so much program space at a time, regarless of how much storage space you have.

Soon the e2 with be able to be used more efficiently. A team is currently working on an OS for the e2 that will allow it to funciton as an external hard drive.

TiScores
Matt

I am currently developing TiScores a website dedicated to high scores from Ti Calcultor games. The site will include high scores from games on the Ti-82, Ti-83, Ti-85, Ti-86, Ti-89, and Ti-92. I would appreciate it if you could send me your scores at m24@hotpop.com so that when the page opened that it would not be empty. I hope that I get a good response. If I get a good response the site will be up and running in about 3-5 days.
The address for the site will be
-----> TiScores. cjb. net

Hey I think that a site dedicted to games high scores is an awesome idea. I hope everyboy turns in their scores I know I will.

Re: TiScores
Marky G

I hope you know that there are some hex editors and decompilers which would make it quite easy to tweak the score, not that I'd be interested, but I thought I'd let you know. It'll be hard to validate an honest effort over the net, but good luck anyway. BTW, my highest score on insane (puzzle mode) is 1165! Has anybody beaten that?

I know it is going to be hard to validate the high scores. But hopefully most people will be honest.

SPUI

I know this isn't the right place to say this but I think there should be reviews for levels as well as games. There are too many levels out there to choose from.

ticalc_chris

I think our review system allows for that (it should let reviewers review any file from our archives). I'll pass the request along to our review staff.
