New TI-Graph Link software for Macintosh released
Posted on 30 December 1998, 02:32 GMT

After many months of waiting, it is finally here. Texas Instruments has released the TI-Graph Link 2 v2.1 Beta 1 software for the Macintosh with TI-73, TI-86, TI-89, TI-92, and TI-92 Plus support.

The 15 letter limit, is, in fact, my friend, a limit imposed my the script that handles the comments. Should a poster type in a word that is over 15 letters long, an error message will come up instead of the usual "your comment will be added to the page in 5 minutes" asking you to make a word that is over 15 letters long to a smaller word. Obviously, ticalc knew that the people that come to post on the message boards, are unable to comprehend such large words. A very thoughful gesture from the ticalc team.

It's ticalc.org's way of ensuring that people can't post url's in the main body of the message. There are ways to get around it by putting spaces in your urls like:

http:// members.xoom. com/oot

The 15 letter limit on a single word was put into effect because people were posting URL's in the comments that were way too long and make the comments too wide, thus making the page look pretty bad.

If you want to post a URL in a comment, place it as your URL for the comment next to your name and e-mail.

Why are my comments getting pulled, but nobody elses?

Comments off-topic (relating to the PC/Mac war) were pulled.

Don't worry, you're not alone.

Notice that not all the comments relating to Mac wars have been wiped yet?

The comments that remain contain relevant discussion about Macs and TI calculators, as well as USB discussion about the TI-Graph Link.

uh, ok?
BG McCollum

so, if i said something like

"a usb graphlink would be good because i could hook up 127 ti-92+s and load files on them all at the same time"

and then went off and and trashed an OS or a computer, it would be alright? im sorry, but i think you are biased? why not clear any mention of the debate but leave the relevant information?

No...

I deleted all the comments I reasonably could. If I did as you wanted me to, and delete every comment that had anything to do with the Mac/PC war, there wouldn't be any comments left because those are on the top of almost every thread and deleting the top comment deletes all the ones underneath.

About the new graphlink software.
theman

I am just happy about this. Finally one step closer to getting USB graphlink and iMac compatible software. I use two graphlink software versions (one for ti-92 emulator). I love having a mac. The software is so easy to use.

BTW: About those adapters Which ones work?

I've tested the Keyspan USB to serial adapter with the new TI-Graph Link 2.1 software and it works with the iMac. Its available from several online resellers for around $80. It doesn't work with the older TI-Graph Link software as that software is hard-coded to the Macintosh serial drivers by name.

I think that a USB GraphLink would benifit both iMac users and even Windows : ( 98 users

I have plenty of iMac-using friends that can't connect to their TIs

Also, I (as a mac user) admit that their are many more IBM compatible users then their are mac users. But, even so, you have to consider that their are many more cockroaches then their are humans, and that numbers do not inflict superiority.

There''s a bug, or is it just me?
Aaron Kleinsteiber

Am I doing something wrong, or is it the software: I am trying to make a backup of my 89 and halfway through it says the cable isn't connected, then at the end of the transfer the program crashes. I tried it twice, then gave up. Please help.
