Thomas Fernique to port FallDown to the TI-89
Posted on 22 October 1998, 04:08 GMT

Thomas Fernique is in the process of porting FallDown to the TI-89. He is looking for someone to make a title picture for the game. It must be 160x50 pixels, in 256 color BMP format, and must have the logo "FallDown" on it. Whoever makes the title picture will get their name somewhere in the game.

That was the 5th comment so shut the heck up already.

Now for the real point of this message. I think it's great that more software is being made for the ti-89. Im going to buy me one of those new fangled 89's this weekend and I hope that even more people port software. I have taken a look at 68k asm and maybe I'll be doing some games soon. If anyone has an Idea I guess just put it in that ideas thing in the services section.

People who comment for the hell of it are boring.

Thomas- If I knew what FallDown was, I might make you that title screen. Is there a version of FallDown for the 83?

I can say one thing: I'll definitely try to get a review up about it once it's made. I'm going to try to get a few 89 reviews up this week.

Yah, it would be much easier to make a title picture for something you know a little about. For all i know it could be a game like connect4, which would merit a very diffrent kind of pic than a, say, arcade game. Also, why in 256 colors if the best you can get on the calc is greyscale? Call me stupid (You better not) but I dont understand that.

266 colors because it's easy for me toconvert it as i want : i don't want a weirdos format like pseudo-binary-grayscales.
The game is same as on the ti92, and i think ahmed el Helw as ported it to 82/83

yes the game is similar to the ti83's. but the original version was made on the ti92 then just ported to the 83.

Do people collect screenshots just to make a crappy game or not even make a game at all? People do. I am not saying that is the case here. But for Pete's sakes. Make the game first. Worry about the title screen later.

Puting the software on the calc
kudzu

I am sure it's a nice game and all but how do i put it on my calc!? Perhaps someone should just write software for it! i am in the dark as how to write software for something like this so maybe someone could tell me or someone could just write it. It wouldn't have to be all that cool with an amazing gui, something like cal would be fine just so long as it worked for the 89. Is anyone even working on writing linking software for the 89!?

You can send and receive files to and from your ti-89 without special ti-89 software. All you need to use is Link92xp.zip, which you can find on this site. It can send files from your ti-89 directly to your computer, as well as from your computer back to your calculator. However, if you want to send files to your ti-89, you'll need to use ti_conv.zip, which I found on the Ti-Files. This program will convert practically any ti-89 or ti-92 file into *.92@ format. Link92xp seems to require this format in order to send files to your calc. I hope this helps you. I still want a real ti-89 linking program, but these programs work just as well for now.

Could you tell me specifically where it's at? i can't seem to find it. Or could you just mail me the program?

I almost bought a TI-89, but I didn't do it because I didn't have enough money :-(

Tough break! The same thing happened to a friend of a friend of mine!! No kidding!

     23 October 1998, 06:33 GMT

Why?

I'm sorry but does anyone really care? Wow you almost bought an 89, good for you. How about you write a book about your gut-wrenching loss of not having the money. It would be an instant bestseller.
Seriously, who wants to read crap like that?
