Attention span: 10/10 I play it almost every school day.
Controls: 10/10 Logical, easy to learn.
Implementation: 9/10 Excellent game of Tetris.
Overall: 10/10 A must for any Tetris fan.

If you've been into video games for any length of time, it's very likely you have heard of Tetris, the simple-yet-addictive puzzle game from Russia. Tetris can be found on almost any computer, calculator, or video game system out there. ZTetris is a version of Tetris written for the TI calculators. I am reviewing the 83 port for ION.

ZTetris is the best version of Tetris I've seen for the TI-83. It has backgrounds that change every 10 lines you get, easy-to-learn controls, a quit-and-save button, and adjustable levels and "height" (random lines put in the playing area before the game starts, adding to the challange). One of its best features, though, is multiplayer support; you can play against other players regardless of which port they are using (i.e. TI-83 ION users can play against TI-82 users, etc.) The multiplay is similar to the Gameboy version; when you get more than 2 lines at a time, random lines are added to the bottom of your opponent's game.

I only found two problems ZTetris, and neither are game-killing. On the high score screen, backspace doesn't work. The random "height" lines you select at the beginning seem to use patterns that get less challanging after awhile.

If you're a fan of Tetris, or just need an addictive puzzle game to waste time, get ZTetris. You won't be disappointed.

Overall Rating-9/10 Superb

Gameplay-9/10 Superb
Graaphics-9/10 Superb
Speed-10/10 Outstanding

This is a great “Tetris” clone that tops all of the others that I have tested. The graphics are great; only grayscale could top these graphics. There are nine different levels of play that have there own unique graphical wallpapers. There are seven different “Tetris” shapes that can be rotated very easily with two different keys. There are two functions that make this a superb “Tetris” clone: first there is a link play that allows two players to verse each other, and secondly there is a save function so that you can keep up your “Ztetris” game at different times.
