Attention span: 7/10 Challenging, although a bit lacking in variety.
Controls: 8/10 Pretty good, although the ball changes speed with angle and the thinner lines on moving objects are difficult to see.
Implementation: 6/10 Okay so far, but progress needs to be made in future versions.
Overall: 7/10 Neat game, look for the DOS version.

Pong Kombat was a really funny DOS game, a parody of Mortal Kombat. It even had a plot, something about the star of Pong, White Paddle, getting mad at all the new colored paddles for stealing his rightful place and holding a tournament to whup them or something. All of the paddles had little character profiles and special weapons. There was even a secret character a la Reptile, some black paddle named Monolith. (2001, anyone?)

Pong Kombat for the 83 includes the basic gameplay - two paddles bouncing a ball around while shooting each other - as well as several balls and different weapon graphics for each paddle. Unfortunately, only one paddle is playable at the moment, and all the paddles are identical anyway except for the graphics of their attacks.

Due to the limited capabilities of the 83, we probably won't see most of the hilarious features from the DOS version. (Ever seen a paddle impaled in the infamous Pit?) However, the game itself is good and somewhat challenging, although rather lacking in variety, so future versions may be something to look forward to.
