When I saw Fate RPG I've decided to base myself on the description and presence of some graphics in the zip file screenshot (which let me guess you can move around in a dungeon and encounter enemies) and judged I should download it and try it out. However I was disapointed by the result.

Graphics: 5/10

What make this RPG different from many calculator RPGs for the TI-8x models (even some ASM ones) is that it has some form of graphic, and you can actually wander around with arrow keys, while lot of other RPGs are only items selectable in TI-OS like menus. I think the ASCII character should have been chosen better though and map layered out in a better way. It took me a while to figure out I was starting in a town, not a dungeon. Also battles need more graphics, it feels empty as it is now.

Gameplay: 2/10

This is the part that disapointed me the most when playing the game. The game runs incredibly fast but all you do in it is start in top left corner, go fight a monster represented by a letter at bottom right of the map and repeat the process until you die or win. All you can do beside this is go talk to the guy to heal yourself or the other guy to buy armors. On top of that it is the only one map in the entire game.

Controls: 7/10

I don't have problems with those, as it is fast, responsive and well chosen, but there isn't much to do at all. Use arrow to reach monster, then keep pressing enter over and over until battle ends.

Storyline: 0/10

Absence of storyline. Pretty much an arena where you keep fighting.

Replay value: 0/10

I deleted the game before even finishing it (did two fights, that's all).

Overall: 2/10

Don't bother downloading this. I want to give suggestions for Fate 2 or the next version of Fate 1 if it's not fully finished:

- More maps (30 should be enough, noticing this is the author first RPG)

- More options in battles

- More items in shop (maybe 3 or 4 healing items)

- Ditch the arena style RPG, there is way too much of this at ticalc.org alerady. Get a small storyline at least where you save the world (if you are good at them add more content of course though)

- More graphics (ASCII or not) in battles
