Attention span: 7/10 Just a demo, should get better.
Controls: 8/10 Simple and easy to master.
Implementation: 8/10 Graphics are a little shabby.
Overall: 8/10 Good game overall.
Aerox is like no other racing game for the 89 ASM I have ever seen. Even though it's just a demo now, it holds great promise.
Aerox is a game where you, the race car driver in a little triangle, have to move around other cars to the finish line. Pretty straight-forward. One of the things that sets it apart is the fact that it includes cruise control - no other racing game that I've seen has something like that. Usually, you have to sit there holding 2nd and maneuvering at the same time. Not in Aerox - it's a "set it and forget it" type of thing.
The controls are ultra-smooth, as is the display. The buttons generate quick responses, although the acceleration could be a little faster, and the steering is great. The quasi-3-D rendered playing field includes turns, dips and hills in the roads, as well as bridges that you can see through. My advice to the progammer - keep on going! |
