Attention span: 4/10 Just gets old after a while.
Controls: 6/10 Can be a bit slow at times.
Implementation: 8/10 Nice graphics, realistic.
Overall: 7/10 A nice graphical game.

ZCasino for the TI-86 is one of the only full-featured casino games for the TI-86. It includes BlackJack, Poker, and of course slot machines. Trying to tackle this many features in one is tough, and I think the programmer did a nice job of it. You start out with 100 dollars and you can change your bet.

The slot machine (there’s only one), is a pretty fair representation of a real slot machine and all you have to do is press enter to start it up. You will see different graphics in the slot machine such as a cherry, a 7, a smiley face and more. It has a nice graphic of a slot machine and the odds are about the same as in real life. There’s not much to this feature, however it is the best part of the game.

Poker is a bit slow. True gamblers would want those cards to come faster. Also, the keys take a while to respond. The graphics of the cards are nicely done, not much improvement there. One flaw is found when you try to unhold a card. The “held” sign still stays there. Once again, poker is still poker, and if you like poker then you’ll like this part of the game.

BlackJack is just like the real thing too. It is as slow as Poker and it is as real as Poker too.

Despite all these features, there are some things that could be improved upon. The whole game could be sped up a little and the controls could be a little more responsive. I’ve also found that you will lose interest very quickly in this game. It’s just not fun to consistently lose. At least it’s not real money.

All in all, this game did a nice job representing a casino, it has nice graphics, and it is a bit slower than usual. While it is a nice program, the attention span is short.
