July 1999 POTM Vote

The nominations for the July Program of the Month have been tabulated. Please take the time to vote. As with last month, the programs from each category receiving the top three number of nominations were selected except in the case of a tie.

Update: There was a major bug in the nomination tabulation script. The nominations from last month were considered when creating the voting list. This made the voting list for this month inaccurate. I have regenerated the voting list based on the correct nomination tabulation. Unfortunately, all the votes cast on this poll had to be removed. Please resubmit your chocies based on the new list. I apologize for this blatant error.

TI Acquires Soft Warehouse, Inc.

Texas Instruments has just recently acquired Soft Warehouse, Inc. The company's primary product is Derive, a CAS (Computer Algebra System) upon which the TI-89, TI-92, and TI-92 Plus are based. This acquisition will enable TI to release more products that utilize a CAS. Also, it may lead to new and improved calculators in the TI line.

TI-89/92+ ROM v1.05 Problems and Corrections

David Hart has posted a great deal of information on his site regarding the new TI-89 and 92+ ROMs. These ROM versions result in incompatibility with a great deal of games. David has also created a patching utility for 89 and 92+ assembly programs so they will work properly with the ROM. Only use this with programs that don't work under the new ROM. Patched programs will NOT work under the old ROM version. If you have any difficulties with finding out what programs work, you can view a list here. Thanks to David for all his efforts!

TxTRider v1.0b - Versatile Text Editor

Marc Teyssier has created a versatile program, TxTRider v1.0b. It is similar to the text editor available on the 89 and 92+. It is also for the 89 and 92+, but it is a text viewer rather than an editor. It does, however, have many added features such as supporting pretty print, pictures, and different formats such as bold and underline.

Bomberman Multiplayer Released

Eric Piel has recently released a new game for the 82, called BomberMan MultiPlayer. It's a normal Bomberman clone except for the fact that there is no computer to play; you have to fight a normal human opponent (on the same calc). It's a very unique game to play against someone else. We suggest you try it out soon!

Kirk Meyer Retires

Kirk Meyer, who has been a news editor, our newsletter editor, and our reviews editor, has decided to retire from those positions. He is entering his senior year in high school and will not have time to maintain these areas of ticalc.org. We are grateful for all the effort he has given us during his time in those positions.

Kirk will continue to handle miscellaneous programming tasks as we continue to improve our site. Watch for some new improvements in the future.
